Kim De Rijck · La sorella di Carl
Dall'architettura ai gioielli
"This buried desire to create jewellery goes back to my earliest childhood, when one day my father let us hide our bracelet creation inside the mould of a sculpture." Immersed in a world of artists, aboard a barge, Kim De Rijck developed a creativity strengthened by various studies in the arts: two years of training in lace and textile sculpture, four years in engraving, then architecture at La Cambre, Brussels.
She ran an architecture practice for twenty years. After studying urban planning, she became a teaching assistant at UCL in the 2000s, pursuing doctoral research on mobility and the production of landscape; she also ran an urban planning consultancy for twelve years.
"It was quite natural, out of a passion for beauty and the wish to return to more manual work," that she trained at several jewellery schools in Liège and Brussels (Institut Jeanne Toussaint - Campus Arts et Métiers): jewellery making, lost-wax casting, drawing, gemmology and stone setting, with further experience at the bench and in sales with a jeweller.
