Belgian fashion opens its doors to the public during the DS Brussels Fashion Days
The 5th edition of the DS Brussels Fashion Days will take place on 14, 15 and 16 October at the Square Brussels Meeting Centre, in Brussels. Emerging and established Belgian designers will be honoured during the event, which will combine shows and activities aimed at both the fashion industry and the general public.
After welcoming 9,500 visitors in 2015 and 8,500 in 2014, the DS Brussels Fashion Days hope to welcome 10,000 people for this new edition.
The organisers are betting on a dynamic programme centred on Belgian fashion. "Fashion weeks are completely closed to the public. We want to give access to the world of fashion to everyone who wishes it. To do this, we have made the event more dynamic. It is not just about shows. Activities are also offered to the public outside the catwalks," explains press officer Inès Leon Martin.
Over the three days, four shows will be organised. On Friday evening, seven established young Belgian designers, Brunel Mintona, Ilke Cop, Sarah Josis, Mansour Badjoko, Doriane Van Overeem, Chapelart and Toos Franken, will present their creations. At the same time, dance will make its way onto the catwalk, offering choreography to accompany the collections presented.
On Saturday, two shows will unfold in several stages. Zalando will present, in a pre-show, silhouettes from the autumn collection combining major brand labels and leading designers. Visitors will then be able to purchase the clothes seen during the show in Zalando's Shoppers Lounge.
Belgian singer Unicq will perform in the evening on the catwalk before the show by renowned Belgian designers and fashion houses, namely Natan, Christian Wijnants, Véronique Branquinho and Louise Assomo.
The ten Belgian fashion schools will be honoured on Sunday afternoon with the finest creations by students from La Cambre, Francisco Ferrer, ESA Saint-Luc, Helmo Mode, Château Massart, Atelier Lannaux, EPS Saint-Luc Bruxelles and SASK.
Numerous fashion-related activities will also be organised, such as beauty bars (make-up, hairstyling, nails), a sewing workshop and floral design sessions.
The evenings will continue with the "Fashion party" from 10:30pm to 2am on Friday and "Party by Love" until 5am on Saturday.
Among the novelties, a designers' gala bringing together visitors, press and designers will be held on Saturday evening. The Fashion Pop Up Store will be enlarged for this new edition.
The DS Fashion Days also hope to reach an even wider audience than last year by organising activities that combine cinema and fashion: a Fashion Talk inspired by Star Wars will thus highlight, on Saturday, the influence of cinema on fashion and how fashion draws inspiration from it. On Sunday, the documentary Revealing Marie Saint Pierre by Canadian director Janice Zolf will be screened.
