Two hundred young Belgian painters are ready to barter their canvases for any object, in Woluwé-Saint-Lambert From 14 June to 30 August, we shall return to the age of barter at Château Malou in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert: two hundred young Belgian painters will exchange their canvases for any object. From the old oil lamp to the superb villa. Provided seller and buyer agree, anything goes. The exhibition, "Le truc troc", to be held at Château Malou, will be a vast encounter between the best so-called contemporary artists and the Belgian public. It is unquestionably the largest group Salon ever organised in Belgium. All the exhibiting artists have been carefully selected by a jury. Why was this "truc troc" exhibition organised (the exchange of "things" for paintings)? "Because money isn't everything, and it is desirable to be able to exchange an object one truly loves for a painting one truly loves. That way, a work of art is not tied to a notion of money. It is a sort of contract between artist and buyer: what one loves against what one loves."
