Sculptures and works
The sculptures, the gouaches and engravings of the 1970s, and the silkscreen prints.

Sculptures
Direct carving in white Carrara marble and lost-wax casting in bronze: the second half of Mon De Rijck's work unfolds in these two materials. The formal vocabulary is consistent: full, closed volumes, softened edges, a serpentine line coiling the body upon itself, an alternation of mirror-polished surfaces and areas left rough or hammered, where the mark of the tool remains legible. The human figure, almost always female, is reduced to essentials: a curve, an upward movement, a withdrawal.

Gouaches and engravings of the 1970s
Before devoting himself to sculpture, Mon De Rijck first worked on paper. In the 1970s, he painted in gouache: compositions in bold colours, with geometric shapes set against dark backgrounds.

Mon De Rijck pursued several trades at once, and silkscreen printing was one of them: in his Château Malou years, he produced many artists' silkscreen prints, not only for himself but also for fellow artists, among them Camille de Taeye, Roland Delcol and Chantal Declève.
