The Flyer as a work of the night

Before it was an announcement, the flyer was the first artistic gesture of a night. Under this generic title, the archive also gathers posters, invitation cards and other printed pieces from the same nights. Carl De Moncharline was always its art director: the concept, the theme, the world, the tone, then the creation entrusted to talented graphic designers whose hand he chose.

From this collaboration came printed objects that ended up outliving their function. Some are now held in the collections of MAD, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, housed in the Rohan-Marsan wing of the Palais du Louvre, with an inventory number and a museum record. The vast majority are not, not for lack of quality, but because Belgium has not yet done this archival work, even though it pioneered the house/techno movement well before France.

This section therefore treats them all with the same museum-grade care: title, date, venue, programme, line-up, credits, sponsors and provenance. The scan shown is always the best available definition, and any digital intervention is disclosed. An archive, not a reconstruction.
