Context
The night celebrated the first anniversary of Extrazone, a Belgian chain of record, video-game and culture stores. The chain closed in 2009, following the bankruptcy of Sonica, which then ran many CD and DVD outlets in Belgium.
David Morales was then on a European promo tour for « Needin' You » and had just won the 1998 Grammy for Remixer of the Year. Bob Sinclar released his first album the same year, Paradise (« Gym Tonic », « The Ghetto », « Move Your Body »), and had recorded his Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 on 1 November 1998, five days before this Brussels night. DJ Pippi, resident at Pacha Ibiza, had just mixed the Pacha Ibiza 1998 compilation (Max Music).
Olivier Gosseries, the Belgian DJ on the bill, has since produced a tribute medley to the club in 2021. The exclusive presence of Lara Croft, announced on the flyer, reflects the PlayStation / Tomb Raider III partnership, released in late 1998: video games were then entering club nights.
