    Printing technique

Screen print on metallic paper, five colour layers (five passes through the press) on the front — blue, yellow, pink, black and white; back printed in black and white.

Carl De Moncharline was the first to have a club flyer printed on metallic paper. The material does not absorb ink like ordinary paper: each colour has to be screen printed separately, and here five layers are superimposed over the silver ground — blue, yellow, pink, black and white, white being a colour in its own right since the paper is not white.

Five passes through the press meant a very high cost at the time — which is why the back, purely informative, was printed in black and white.

Flyers and posters went through the press one by one, then were cut by hand: each copy is a screen print, not a mass offset run.

Michel Poulain later produced, with the collaboration of Carl De Moncharline, the Global Tekno 1 poster (Radio FG / American Center, 20 June – 23 July 1995), also screen printed on metallic paper: the MAD record carries the printed inscription « SUR UNE IDEE DE CARL DE MONCHARLINE » (inv. no. 2018.83.48).
