    Article text · translation

This summer, seven cities in the country are opening their arteries to rollerskaters. Every day of the week, come skate safely in Hasselt, Namur, Ghent, Brussels, Liège, Mons, and Koksijde. ROLLERS • Belgium Summer Tour This summer, enjoy long evenings and police escorts on wheels to freely roller skate through the arteries of several cities across the country. AFTER the resounding success of "Brussels Rollers" in the summer of 2002, with over 30,000 people on skates and more than 100,000 spectators, Brussels Rollers becomes Belgium Rollers! Indeed, this summer, more than seven cities in the country are participating in the operation! And this, for the two months of school holidays. That's almost one city per day for 60 days! The first event will take place on Friday, June 27 in Brussels and the last in Mons on Sunday, August 31. The Rollers cops team is also growing, with now over 60 police officers on skates: in Brussels, Hasselt, Mons, and Namur! Urban meet-ups A meeting is scheduled every evening (details below), from 8 PM, for a large, completely free roller skating tour (with refreshments provided) of approximately 20 km that will take over the streets of: - Hasselt every Monday - Namur every Tuesday - Ghent every Wednesday (except July 23 and 30) - Liège every Thursday - Brussels every Friday - Mons every Saturday - Koksijde on Sundays, July 13 and 20, and August 10 and 24 Those who have not yet mastered the technique can also train in Brussels, at the largest outdoor roller skating school: in the Bois de la Cambre every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, from 11 AM to 5 PM. The mission of Belgium Rollers is to organize and promote roller skating tours, and by extension, to promote roller skating as a leisure activity, sport, mode of transport... And to allow citizens to rediscover their cities in a different way! Furthermore, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of King Albert II's reign, a "Family Rollerparade" will be organized on Sunday, July 20 – starting at 12:30 PM from the Cinquantenaire Park (Schuman-Joyeuse entrance side); a very special route - but shorter than that of the usual Rollerparade - will be offered for the occasion. For the first time, Rue de la Loi will open its way to Rollers. Desired attire: black, yellow, red, of course! Info on the festivities of July 20 and 21: http://www.albert2.be Good to know before participating ● The wearing of all protective gear is required for children: wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, and helmet. For adults, these are strongly recommended. Please note that "Belgium Rollers" declines all responsibility in case of accidents on the supervised routes of the summer. ● In case of rain, or risk of rain, the ride is automatically canceled. ● In the eyes of the Highway Code, a skater is a pedestrian. The "rollerman" must therefore use the sidewalks. Other pedestrians are therefore neither obstacles, much less targets around which one must weave. They are simply friends. ❶ 0900 24 064 www.belgiumrollers.com
