July 21: write for free!
La Poste joins the 175th anniversary of Belgium
BRUSSELS Initiatives are multiplying as part of 175/25. To note: the action led by La Poste, which is uniquely associating itself with the event. "The objective is a promotional action, of course. In the longer term, it's about making Belgians want to write again," emphasizes Emmanuel Foulon, spokesperson. Concretely, for the national holiday, you can write to your friends, your family, without stamping your mail. "They will simply need to be personalized," continues Emmanuel Foulon. "Clearly, the address must be handwritten, to reserve the operation for all individuals." Other conditions: the shipment cannot exceed 50 grams, the recipient must reside in Belgium, and the mail must be posted between the last collection on Wednesday and the first on Friday. This free mail will be distributed as non-priority. In other words, your recipient will receive your missive from Tuesday 26.
That's not all. La Poste has also published 200,000 cards, which you can get, always for free, in places where it will have set up its stand. You will have the choice between the card featuring the generic title: I love Belgium, or the one representing the national flag, with black like chocolate, yellow like blond beer, and red like the Wépion strawberry. If you wish to send your best wishes to the King for his 11 years of reign, no problem: a specific card has been produced, and it will be addressed directly to the Palace, with your signature and a small accompanying note, if you wish.
Here are the places where you can get these patriotic cards this Thursday.
► Brussels, Sablon 12h – 23h; Esplanade du Cinquantenaire, from 12h to 23h.
► Ciney, flea market, rue Edouard Dinot 30, from 13h to 18h.
