See you tonight at 9 PM at the Bois de la Cambre for the first family Rollerparade During the summer of 2002, no fewer than 30,000 people participated in this summer event imported from Paris. Not bad for a first season! So we'll do it again this year. With a first meeting tonight at 8 PM, at the Carrefour des Attelages. And yes, that's the big news: the departure is no longer from Place Poelaert but from the Bois de la Cambre. As a reminder, the Rollerparade is a stroll, not a race, of about twenty kilometers through the streets of the capital. It will take place every Friday evening in July and August, except in case of rain. Here's the timing. 8 PM: welcome and warm-ups; 9 PM: parade departure; 10 PM: break at Les Halles Saint-Géry; 11 PM: return to the Bois de la Cambre. As we said, it's not a race, but it still goes quite fast, and some passages are dangerous for anyone who doesn't minimally control their speed and braking. In other words, the ride is not recommended for beginners. The "staffers" (including police rollercops) spot insecure skaters and advise them to get more experienced before returning. For them, remember that they can train at the Bois de la Cambre, in the largest outdoor roller skating school, every Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. Safety tips Let's also specify that during the ride, wearing all protections (wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, and helmet) is required for children. And strongly recommended for adults! A few more rules to respect: do not overtake the "safety car" that leads the ride, do not hold onto a motorized vehicle, and only skate on the road (not on sidewalks). If, despite everything, a small injury or bout of fatigue should occur, the broom bus is always present at the end of the procession. It can take you back to the starting point. But let's not think about these incidents. Because the Rollerparade is also an opportunity to discover Brussels at night. And it is so beautiful... PLEASE NOTE Info: 0900/24.064 or www.belgiumrollers.com : in brief ■ Special Happy Birthday Albert II on July 20 Exceptional family Rollerparade on the occasion of the king's ten years of reign.
