    Issue 2 (March-April 1971) of Contact Jeunes, the monthly of the F.G.T.B. Cadets and Young Trade Unionists, devoted to the social elections. The magazine reproduces a full-page collage kindly authorised by "Mécénat démocratique", the non-profit run by Charline Mahy and Mon De Rijck, and publishes a box setting out the association's aims: bringing art within reach of the general public, allowing artists to live from their art, fighting bad taste, creating shared workshops for artists and young people, and ensuring painting and sculpture become public property again. The association states it groups 243 artists and holds 8,000 works of art.

    Reproduction of the collage kindly authorised by "Mécénat démocratique". This association aims to - bring Art within reach of the general public, - give artists the possibility of living from their Art, - fight the bad taste around us, - create shared workshops for artists and young people, - ensure that painting and sculpture become public property again.     Context note

    Document kept in Carl De Moncharline's family archives. The magazine does not name the author of the collage: it credits "Mécénat démocratique", the non-profit founded by Charline Mahy and Mon De Rijck. According to the family, it is one of Charline Mahy's earliest collages. The issue is dated March-April 1971 in the masthead.
