The Mirano Capsule: A Scent of Night
The Mirano did not only occupy Brussels nightlife: it found its way into people's wallets. At the door, when a customer was not a member and paid the entry fee, change was given back in a small transparent plastic capsule that has turned orange over time (it is now more than thirty years old), scented and bearing the club's logo. The object, both coin holder and business card, slipped into the pocket and travelled with its owner all over the city.
To hold that capsule meant, to whoever found it in their hand, that its owner knew the Mirano. It turned every coin returned into a badge of belonging, a scent of night spread in broad daylight. It was silent, intimate, almost cheeky advertising: the club bought no poster, it simply walked around in people's pockets.
This 1991 capsule bears witness to the collective creativity of the Mirano team: every detail, even the smallest, became an opportunity to turn the everyday into a signature. It belongs to the same visual world as the club's posters and invitations.
