    “Aldo au Mirano”, the Notebook

“Aldo au Mirano, Conversations avec Aldo Gigli & Paul Sterck” is a stapled notebook with yellow, turquoise and fuchsia pages, published by afterclub.be. It is the first volume of a series of tributes to artists and designers chosen for their contribution to Belgian nightlife.

In it, Aldo Gigli is heard in conversation: the night-time circuits of old Brussels, clubs full by eleven, glasses washed at Les Gémeaux, then Le Canotier and the Mirano. An object of memory, printed like his posters: direct, colourful, unpolished.

The notebook is on sale in the afterclub.be shop.

    “Aldo au Mirano”, yellow spread
Sunny yellow spread of the notebook, open at “Les Bacchanales romaines” at the Casino Continental: the Grand-Place, glasses to wash and the Belgometaire. The Mirano's memory reads like a folded leaflet, the fanned pages letting the turquoise and pink of the next chapters show through.
“Aldo au Mirano”, the notebook in flight
Photographed mid-swing, the notebook strikes a pose like an arch: yellow pages cantilevered, edges in pink, turquoise and green. A paper object that kept its subject's sense of showmanship.
    “Aldo au Mirano”, fanned pages
The notebook's pages fan open like stage curtains: yellow, turquoise, magenta. In it you read the story of the early days, the glasses, the side jobs, the night taking hold. A small notebook unfolding a big story.
“Aldo au Mirano”, the object from the edge
Seen from the edge, the notebook reads like a stack of layered posters: yellow, turquoise, magenta, bound with staples. Colour as a table of contents, the night as a programme.
