The first Roller Parade of Liège could not take place, as the organizers preferred to cancel it. All hopes are high for this Thursday... Unless a new low-pressure system comes to dampen the spirits of roller-skating enthusiasts! If it is not this week, it might be the next! The Belgium Rollers Summer Tour 2003 has indeed planned to make stops in Liège every Thursday of the summer, until August 27. Launched in the territory of the City of Brussels, it stops this year in various Walloon cities, as well as Antwerp and Ostend. According to organizer Carl de Moncharline, Liège has the distinction of offering a very urban route. The itinerary takes the boulevards de la Sauvenière and d'Avroy, avenue Blonden and its underpass, avenue Rogier and its underpass, and the bridges of Fragnée and Fétinne. The two 7.5-kilometer loops pass through place Saint-Lambert, where the departure (9 p.m.) and arrival of the parade will take place. From 8 p.m., participants will be able to warm up before taking on the city center, whose roads will be entirely rolled out for them for the evening. Motor traffic will also be slightly disrupted while allowing the parade to pass. It will be possible to rent roller skates, as 300 pairs will be available for €10, which also includes essential protective gear.
