The roller parade, it's moving!
IF SOME were still questioning the usefulness and effectiveness of a municipal children's council, the answer given on Sunday by the young municipal councillors of Sombreffe is the best of all those that could have been given.
At the beginning of May, on the occasion of the establishment of the second junior council, Mayor Etienne Bertrand highlighted the excellent results of the first experience: « The learning of citizenship, public speaking, decision-making, the pursuit of the general interest, knowledge of their commune and the improvement of their living environment: these are some of the objectives we set ourselves last year. A year later, I can conclude that this first legislature was a complete success. A year of meetings, discussions but also decisions. The first achievements of the Municipal Children's Council are there: the installation in spring of a first play module at the sports complex, the organization of a roller parade and finally the creation of roller tracks in different parts of the commune. »

Safety Instructions
More than a hundred young people thus participated in Ligny in the great gathering of roller enthusiasts. This roller parade was a success thanks, of course, to the quality of the organization, but also to the extreme discipline that the young people observed in the exercise of their passion. The organizers had reminded them of some safety and caution guidelines: the obligation to wear protection, to take into account the speed and trajectory of others, to keep to their right but also to obey the instructions of the staff or not to zigzag. Instructions were heard and applied, so much so that if this parade was intended to be a celebration for roller skaters, it also had a pleasant family side. And on roller skates, adults often have many lessons to learn from young blonde heads! Present on site to supervise the procession, the police of the SAMSOM zone was a full partner in the success of the event. In short, there are every reason to hope that the Sombreffe roller parade will find its place in the calendar of local festivals in the future.
