Mons Every Saturday, roller games

Created last year in the capital, 'Brussels Rollers' opened Brussels' streets to inline skating enthusiasts thanks to five summer events. Given the remarkable success of this first initiative (over 30,000 participants), the idea quickly emerged to rename the operation 'Belgium Rollers' and to involve the cities of Hasselt (Mondays), Namur (Tuesdays), Ghent (Wednesdays), Liège (Thursdays), Mons (Saturdays), and Koksijde (Sundays). The Brussels outing takes place every Friday evening. The first outing in Mons thus took place on Saturday, June 28, to the delight of those who skate and those who roll along. As a reminder, each gathering will take place at 8 p.m. (Grand-Place for warm-up) and at the end of a loop about twenty kilometers long (with a break), the group returns to the foot of the City Hall around 11 p.m. All this while benefiting from the wise guidance of local 'roller cops', police officers who have received specific... accelerated training! Participation is free (rental possible at €10 a pair) and wearing a helmet and protective gear is strongly advised (and mandatory for children).
