Hundreds, thousands of skaters in the streets of Namur, that is for this summer! After launching Brussels Rollers in the streets of the capital – 2,500 participants during the first outing, 30,000 over the entire summer! – the organizer has decided to extend its concept to several major cities across the kingdom (Anvers, Ostende, Liège, Mons, Bruxelles, Namur) with the aim of promoting roller skating as a leisure activity, a sport and, why not, a means of transport.
In Namur, the ride is put on its feet, or rather on wheels, every Tuesday in July and August with logistical support from the municipality. It will allow participants to discover the city and its surroundings in a spirit that is both festive and athletic. A brigade composed of about ten police officers on roller skates will provide supervision for the procession, which will depart from Namur at 9 p.m., cross the countryside of Jambes and Wépion before returning to the city center.
Finally, let us specify that this is not a race, but a ride. No registration, no medal at the finish line, nor even any obligation to swallow the 20 km of asphalt in one go! On the safety side, it is strongly recommended to wear protective gear (helmet, knee pads...), to cushion falls and impacts.
