It's time to put on your skates: the Roller Parade returns on June 4

Skating sports enthusiasts, to your skates! The Roller Parade is back to liven up the asphalt of our cities. This season, no less than eight cities are participating in the event, which will kick off on Friday, June 4, in Brussels. This year, it holds special interest as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the in-line skate, invented by Joseph Merlin from Huy. Due to participant insistence, the event will be spread over four months (instead of two), with the last session scheduled for the end of September. The parade will start an hour earlier to make the most of the daylight: the gathering is set for 7 p.m., departure at 8 p.m., and return around 11 p.m. The 20-kilometer route will start and finish again at Place Poelaert, deemed more "fun" than the Bois de la Cambre. The City of Brussels reminds everyone that wearing all protective gear (helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads) is mandatory for children and strongly recommended for adults. The ride, supervised by the police, is however not recommended for complete beginners. For those who have not mastered the technique, introductory sessions will be held at the Bois de la Cambre every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. In case of rain or risk of rain, the ride is canceled.
