Maud De Rijck · カール・デ・モンシャルリーヌの妹
1993年 - ラ・ランテルヌ: 「アースデイのための地球儀」
"Brussels twins recreate the Earth": on 18 April 1993, La Lanterne devoted its front page and a "region" feature to Maud and Kim De Rijck (22), putting the finishing touches, in the garage of the family home on avenue Georges Henri in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, to a globe 1.50 metres in diameter.
Commissioned by the Green Fair environmental show for Earth Day (22 April), the sculpture - made with Jean-Marc Simon and Abel Bran, all young architects fresh out of La Cambre - was exhibited from the opening of the Book Fair at Heysel hall 3, then at the Green Fair.
Eight fibreglass and eco-resin quarters covered with recycled paper donated by the Pandava company and pasted quarter by quarter, white continents "to symbolise the cleanliness of the environment", a central steel axis, a meridian dotted with leaves, a spring base: once dismantled, the globe fits into a simple car. "It's a kind of ode to the environment that wishes the Earth good luck," Maud explains.
The article already notes the family legacy: "If the young women both chose the creative profession of architect, it is no doubt partly because of their parents, confirmed artists. Daughters of sculptor Mon De Rijck and painter Charline Mahy, Kim and Maud have creation in their genes!"
