    Mécénat Démocratique: Kunst für alle

Even before the Truc-Troc, Charline Mahy and Mon De Rijck were involved in Mécénat Démocratique, a non-profit founded to make art accessible to the general public. Their flyer "Art belongs to you" offered a 25 F support card: by purchasing it, the art lover supported Belgian artists and could receive a painting or sculpture at home.

The association set out a clear programme: create shared workshops for artists and young people, fight bad taste, and ensure that painting and sculpture become public property again. In 1971, it grouped 243 artists and held 8,000 works redistributed according to an original formula. Its offices were at Centre International Rogier, office 302, 1000 Brussels.
