Carl Craig, born in Detroit in 1969, is a major figure of the second wave of Detroit techno. After founding the Planet E Communications label in 1991, he developed several aliases including Innerzone Orchestra, a project fusing jazz, techno and live improvisation. On 5 September 1997 he presented the Belgian live premiere of Carl Craig's Innerzone Orchestra at Who's Who's Land in Brussels, as part of the « Intergalactic Beatz Part One » night. The flyer mentions his influence from Derrick May and his work on tracks such as « Bug in the Bassbin » (1992), which became a precursor reference of drum'n'bass. At that time, Carl Craig had just released the album More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art and was already preparing the ground for Programmed (1999), Innerzone Orchestra's first studio album.
