THE LORD OF THE CARIBBEAN CHÂTELAIN PARTY - The Fiesta Latina, next weekend in the Bailli district, promises to be hot. We need it. It's going to be big! That is the promise of the organisers of the Fiesta Latina, back for the third time to liven up the weekend in the Bailli district. The aim: to stage a major event to energise the neighbourhood and get people dancing. The idea works: the salsa rhythms devised in 2003 for the first edition drew nearly ten thousand people (Kastel Events expected 3,000 at most!), while the 2004 carnival, which animated the streets from noon to midnight, gathered more than 15,000. The novelty in 2005: the festival doubles up and takes over the whole weekend, on the theme "The Islands and the Caribbean". VIP promenade Bands from the Dominican Republic and Belgium will punctuate both days with their music (surprise concert at 6 pm on Sunday); entertainment such as salsa beginners' workshops, face painting for children and a VIP promenade will be open to all. And all weekend long, more than 60 stands of products from the Caribbean, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador will offer their colours and specialities. Note that Sunday starts with a large free brunch from 11 am. Orange juice, croissants and coffee will be offered on a huge terrace set up on the place du Châtelain.
