Télé Bruxelles: takeover of Who's Who's Land — Henri Simons, Yvan Mayeur
In 2002, in this report by Benoît Feyt, presented by Éric Russon and Caroline Veyt for Télé Bruxelles, the Who's Who's Land saga took a major turn. Under the impetus of Yvan Mayeur (President of the Brussels City CPAS and future mayor), a crisis exit solution emerged: the CPAS buying the building. The aim was to reallocate the former discotheque into a less noisy multicultural hub, intended to host the Muziekpublique association and the Zinneke Parade workshops, a project also supported on this occasion by Alderman Henri Simons. However, the operation met with refusal from the regional authority, which deemed the purchase price too high. Yvan Mayeur denounced a vindictive decision by the Region in the face of real estate market realities, defending the legitimacy of the project before it went to the municipal council. A striking archival document on the political tensions and arbitrations surrounding the reconversion of Who's Who's Land.
