BRUSSELS ∇ Roller-cops highly cheered Tuesday evening in Brussels The 13 police officers on rollers from the City of Brussels zone made their first public outing in the city on Tuesday evening. They set off from Place Poelaert (Palace of Justice) to skate towards the Bois de La Cambre. No more secret training: this was a first reconnaissance in a real-life situation and on real cobblestones that hurt the kneecaps... This is to indicate that the roller-cops were loudly cheered all along the route and that terrace customers even went as far as standing up to greet them as they passed... Gil.

Context note

This article marks the institutionalization of roller skating in Brussels shortly before the official launch of the Brussels Roller Parade in 2002.
