This Sunday, July 20, the royal family will engage in alternative mobility

BRUSSELS ∇ The festivities dedicated to the ten years of Albert II's reign begin this Sunday, July 20... with an aperitif! ► A classical aperitif concert, naturally. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the courtyard of the Egmont Palace. The Prima La Musica ensemble, under the direction of Dirk Brossé, will perform a recital of works by Mozart and Bartók every hour. ► Next up is sports. Starting at 11:30 a.m., the gathering for the special 10th anniversary Roller Parade will take place at Parc du Cinquantenaire (Schuman roundabout side). Prince Laurent and Princess Claire, who are not expected to wear roller skates, will give the starting signal at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and a tricolor theme is encouraged. ► At the foot of the Atomium and along Boulevard du Centenaire, starting at 12 p.m., the Moto Parade will rally its big bikes. The King, himself a great motorcycle enthusiast, will give the starting signal at 1:30 p.m. Prior to this, the Blue Knights, the global club of police motorcyclists, will present him with a leather vest they have carried in their saddlebags for several years, originating from a convention in the United States. ► Prince Philippe, without Mathilde – the Princess will be forgiven as she is due to give birth in less than two months – will hop on his bike to join at a surprise moment the Vélo Parade, which starts at 2 p.m. from Place des Palais (in front of the Royal Palace). Gathering starts at 12:30 p.m. ► From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., circus, entertainment, music, and tastings on Rue Haute and Place Brueghel (below the Law Courts). ► The Roller Street Park opens its doors at 3 p.m. at Prince Albert Barracks (see page 2). ► Starting at 6:30 p.m., Place du Jeu de Balle hosts a major popular ball of the Marolles district featuring local guest artists such as Annie Cordy, Grand Jojo, and Johan Verminnen. The square will be transformed into a dance floor with a giant disco ball and equipped with a large screen. The public will be able to vote by SMS (€0.75/SMS) to choose their favorite popular song from a virtual jukebox. Currently leading the votes is the song... I Will Survive, of course. The contest winner will receive their prize around 11 p.m.... from Prince Laurent and Princess Claire, who have not forgotten the warm welcome given to them by this neighborhood the day after their wedding during the mass given by Father Gilbert.
