The rollerbladers will roll for four months

First 2004 parade scheduled for tonight, from 7 p.m. BRUSSELS ∇ The city's cobblestones and asphalt will once again be offered to rollerblading enthusiasts. Tonight, at 8 p.m., the 2004 Roller Parade will start from Place Pœlaert. The gathering itself is scheduled for 7 p.m. An hour during which a muscle warm-up is highly recommended. Those who do not have rollerblades can rent them one hour before the start, at the Carrefour des Attelages in the Bois de la Cambre (10 to 15 € with protections). Once all participants are in place, it's time to launch the parade, if and only if the rain doesn't spoil the party and simply cancel the event. In good weather, however, it's a pure delight for the skaters who will still have to respect certain rules on the approximately 20-kilometer route, between Pœlaert, the Bois, and on the way back to the Palace of Justice. The main rules: wearing protections for children, and a white light at the front, a red light at the back for both children and adults. Likewise, it will be forbidden to overtake the car leading the parade, or to skate on the sidewalks... As a reminder, participation is free. The event will be held every Friday for the next four months, until September 24, in partnership with other cities in the country, including Huy where the roller skate was invented 200 years ago by Joseph Merlin.
