In August, there will be something for everyone

PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES Fair and folklore, open-air cinema, beach afternoon or tethered balloon: take your pick! May those who are working or cannot afford a tropical vacation not lament too much. In August, the capital will offer everyone a host of activities, indoors and outdoors. It is impossible to give an exhaustive list here. We have focused on the most important and original ones. To repeat, everyone will find something to enjoy. Children and adults alike, heritage lovers and partygoers, fans of Brussels folklore and seekers of unusual discoveries. Due to lack of space, festivals and other theatrical performances have not been included below. Let us nevertheless mention a few: the Bellone-Brigittines Festival (contemporary dance) from August 19 to July 6, the Boterhammen in de stad festival (music) on Place d’Espagne from August 25 to 29, or theatrical performances at Karreveld Castle in Molenbeek. These are all activities to which we will return or which you will find in our agenda pages and our section "Your leisure, your weekend outings" (Friday editions). And let no one say again that Brussels is a city where nothing happens! Given the program of activities this August, that statement no longer holds true. EVENINGS Roller, cinema and Europe by night > Rollerparade Every Friday evening at 9 p.m... when it is not raining, departing from the Carrefour des Attelages (Bois de la Cambre). A ride... nevertheless sporty, of about twenty kilometers through the streets and a few tunnels of the capital. Reserved for roller skaters who at least know how to brake. Doors open at 8 p.m., film at 10 p.m. On the program this August, notably Bowling for Columbine, Taxi 3, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Gangs of New York, X-Men II... On the Heysel plateau, some 350 of the most emblematic buildings of the old continent have been reconstructed. Until August 17, you have the opportunity to discover them under the spotlights, thanks to night visits organized on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until 11 p.m. Also noteworthy are the musical fireworks around 10:30 p.m. on August 2, 9 and 16, which illuminate and set Brel's texts to music.
