During the summer months, Brussels organizes a roller skating parade in the streets every Friday at 7 p.m. This year, the organizers have an extra reason to celebrate as it was exactly two hundred years ago that the roller skate was invented in Belgium by Joseph Merlin. The circuit starts and finishes at Poelaertplein. The route is twenty kilometers long. The police escort the participants along the route.
