Brussels neighbours' party goes nationwide BRUSSELS — On 25 May, 'Feest in het gebouw' will be celebrated throughout Belgium. Last year, 10,000 people in Brussels took part in the event. The principle is simple: invite your neighbours and break the anonymity of the city. 'Feest in het gebouw' blew over from Paris to Brussels. In Brussels, the organisers counted 10,000 residents last year who got to know their neighbours in one way or another. Most often in the form of a neighbourhood party or an aperitif to which the whole street is invited. Brussels mayor Freddy Thielemans (PS) already set the example last year by inviting residents of the streets around the Grand-Place for a drink at the City Hall. This year, 'Feest in het gebouw' is being organised across the whole country. In Flanders, Antwerp, Ghent, Ostend and Hasselt are expected to take part. More info: www.feestinhetgebouw.be (KHB)
