While the weekend promises to be resolutely placed under the banner of Couleur Café (read on page 25), the Tour et Taxis site will not be the only gathering point for partygoers this weekend. Quite the contrary, judge for yourself! Belgium Rollers this Friday from 8 p.m. First things first, make way for the Roller Parade. Given last year's success, the operation is not only renewed but extended to seven cities across the country. Kick-off will take place on wheels this June 27, from 8 p.m., at the Bois de la Cambre. The meeting point is set at the Carrefour des Attelages, for a ride to the city center. After a quick pass by the Halles Saint-Géry, the finish will take place around 11 p.m. at the woods. Created in 2001 to promote street arts in the city center, the Espaces Spéculoos take over the Brussels cobblestones starting this Friday evening. To launch the event, the City of Brussels is organizing the grand Street Arts Night this Friday at Place de la Monnaie. The event runs from 7 to 11 p.m., offering a show rich in emotion for young and old alike. This Saturday, June 28, at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., the Compagnie des tréteaux du Niger will open the Espaces Spéculoos season with a performance combining dance and music. Meet every Saturday thereafter, same time, same place. Info: www.espacespeculoos.be. Popular festival Saturday at Place Saint-Géry. There is little doubt it will be crowded this Saturday around the Halles Saint-Géry for the first edition of the neighborhood festival. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. On the agenda: craft market, circus and theater shows, brass band, street arts... From 9 p.m., the square will light up with a thousand paper lanterns for a grand popular ball featuring accordion and guinguette tunes. After the roller skaters on Friday evening, it will be the turn of the strange racing cars of the Eco Week-End to parade beneath the foliage of the woods. This now traditional event is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. (free and official practice runs) and Sunday from 10 a.m. The competition itself will start at noon, with the final scheduled for 4 p.m. Info: www.brussels-eco-weekend.be. Grand Peace Banquet in Ixelles. Announced with plenty of ribbons stretched across the streets, the traditional peace banquet organized on Rue Malibran will take place this Sunday, starting at 12 p.m. For the occasion, a 300-meter-long table will be set up in the street.
