Family summer leisure Touring Liège on roller skates

Last summer, over 30,000 residents of Brussels put on their roller skates before setting off for a ride through their city. Given the success of this event, it is being extended this year to other cities. Mons, Namur, Gand, Hasselt, Coxyde, and Liège have joined in to form a circuit. "There will be an organized ride every day during the two summer months, at a rate of one evening per week for each city," specifies Carl de Moncharline, the initiator of "Belgium Rollers". In Liège, this event—more festive than athletic—will take place every Thursday on the same schedule and along an identical route. Departure (9 p.m.) and arrival (11 p.m.) at Place Saint-Lambert. Welcome from 8 p.m. The route notably takes Boulevard de la Sauvenière, Avenue Blonden, Pont de Fragnée, Place d'Italie, Place Saint-Paul, and Place Cockerill, forming a 7 km loop that will be covered twice (for the most enduring, at least). But the organizer reassures: "There is no competitive spirit; it is a fun, family-friendly event taking place in a good-natured atmosphere." The only condition for participating: knowing how to brake. An imperative for children: wearing protective gear. For adults, it is just a recommendation, but "all accidents that occurred in Brussels involved skaters without protection." For those who do not own skates: "We rent them out. We also set up a team of volunteers who assist in more difficult passages (underpass style)." This Thursday at 9 p.m. the first start will be given, provided it does not rain. Otherwise, it is canceled. This event naturally takes place with the cooperation of the police, who provide supervision and block traffic. This will cause a little inconvenience to motorists.
