A night-time rollerblade ride

■ Free and open to all NAMUR ∇ This summer, seven Belgian cities including Namur will host the Belgium Rollers tour, in other words, inline skating rides. In Brussels, last summer, the parade launched by Carl de Moncharline, an event-planning expert well known in the capital's trendy and nightlife circles, was followed by 5,000 inline skating enthusiasts. In Namur, Belgium Rollers will take off on Tuesday, July 1st at 9:00 p.m., and will take place every Tuesday evening until the end of August. It is a free summer ride open to everyone. Ten newly trained police officers on rollerblades will lead the procession and ensure its safety at intersections. Their role will also be to guide the crowd to prevent the group from scattering and to slow down the most enthusiastic. Furthermore, Alderman Laloux does not hide it: “Belgium Rollers is also a public relations operation for the police: a way to get in tune with young people and get closer to the citizens.” At the rear of the procession, a bus will act as a broom wagon. Regarding equipment, rollerblades are available for rent. Protective gear is recommended for all participants (mandatory for children). In case of wet ground, the organizers will decide in the afternoon whether to cancel the ride. Here is the itinerary of approximately 24.8 kilometers that will cross Namur, Wépion, Dave, and Jambes before concluding in Namur. Note that the route will feature a few refreshment stops. ► In Namur, the ride will depart from the place du palais de Justice, then take the rues Lelièvre, Godefroid, place de la Gare, boulevard Mélot, avenue de Stassart, pont de la Libération, avenue Cardinal Mercier, place Wiertz, avenue Reine Astrid, rue Bord de l'eau, place Kegeljan, boulevard Huart, pont de Jambes, boulevard Baron de Moreau, and the avenues du parc, Félicien Rops, de la Pairelle. ► In Wépion, skaters will pass via the chaussée de Dinant and the pont de Wépion. ► In Dave: via the rues de Lustin, de Jambes, and the placette du Longeau. And in Jambes, via the rues de Dave, de l'Emprunt, du passage d'Eau, avenue du parc d'Amée, Parc d'Amée, rues de Dave, de la citadelle, boulevard de Meuse, pont de Jambes, avenue Materne, rues de Dave, de Géronsart, and allée du Parc des Ardennes... ► Return to Namur via boulevard Isabelle Brunell, avenue Golenvaux, rue de la Tour, place du Théâtre, rues Cuvelier, Pépin, Namèche, des dames Blanches, de Fer, Quatre Coins, rues de l'Ange, des Echasseurs, place Maurice Servais, rue des Fossés Fleuris, place Chanoine Deschamps, rues Saint Jean, du Président, du Collège, place Saint-Aubain, and rue Lelièvre.
