Police officers practice on the Groene Boulevard for 'Roller Parade'

HASSELT Fifteen police officers on roller skates took a lap around the Groene Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon. Starting June 30, they will escort the inline skaters who will ride through Hasselt every Monday evening until the end of August. 'Belgium Rollers' is organizing 20-kilometer skate tours in 7 Belgian cities. In Hasselt, the route for this 'Roller Parade' has meanwhile been announced. After a loop around the Boelvaar, it goes via the Catharinawijk and the Kroonwinningsstraat to the Pietelbeekstraat. Then the tour leads via a short section of Steenweg to Wolske and via Godsheide along the Albertkanaal to the Elfde Liniestraat and Dusartplein. Along the way, the skating officers ensure everything runs safely. The tours start at 8 p.m. Anyone who does not have their own equipment can rent it on site. A complete set, including protective gear, costs 10 euros.
