Energy Week
Communication campaign for Alain Hutchinson, Secretary of State for Housing and Energy within the Brussels Government.
Fourth edition devoted to heating, 10—17 October 2003: exhibitions, conferences, guided tours, competitions, solar pools, a wooden house, energy awareness, a bike rally, a balloon release and over 40 free activities.
Purpose of the campaign
The campaign is built around Willy, an energy-saving specialist: a resourceful, experienced character carrying a concrete message to Brussels households — “This winter, turn your heating down by 1 °C”.
The argument is twofold: domestic heating is the largest source of CO2 emissions in Brussels after road traffic, and it accounts for more than 40% of a household's energy bill. The week invited the public to get personalised advice, visit 33 “Intelligent Energy” sites, attend conferences and the solar water-heater bike tour, and win low-energy bulbs or a home energy audit.
Official opening on Friday 10 October 2003 at Halles Saint-Géry by Alain Hutchinson, Secretary of State for Energy, with the opening of the FEE exhibition “Committing to Energy, child's play” and the Telenergie evening.
